FAQ.

Q. What are clinical rotations?
A. During the third and fourth years at Aureus, students are required to complete a practical training known as clinical rotations. Each rotation is classified as either core or elective. All core rotations (internal medicine, pediatrics, obstetrics/gynecology, surgery, psychiatry, and familymedicine) and fourth-year electives must be completed with a Aureus clinical professor. Electives can be based in any specialty and at any domestic medical facility.

Q. Will I need to wait in between rotations?
A. No. Rotations are ongoing with only days between generally.

Q. Can I schedule time off to study for Step 2 CK/CS?
A.  By arrangement, some time may be allowed. However, we encourage ongoing clinical rotations eben when studying for USMLE exams.

Q. How are clinical rotation groups assigned?
A. By the clinical director's office for North Texas. Special requests may be made for electives.

Q. Am I free to switch rotation sequence?
A. No. These are assigned by the clinical rotations office.

Q. Where will I do the clinical rotations?
A. Rotations are with Aureus clinical professors who are practicing US physicians. Depending on the rotation and the professor, clinical rotations are completed at a combination of hospitals, surgery centers and private clinics.

Q. How do you obtain more information regarding clinical rotations?
A. During your starting orientation you will receive a clinical rotation handbook.

Q. Have any other students who competed the North Texas clinical rotations obtained residency?
A. Yes.

Q. Where should I live in DFW to make it easiest to rotate?
A. Most rotations center around Ft. Worth but some are in Dallas area. Cities like Arlington and Irving are in between and therefore good cities to live in to minimize commute time.

An example area in Fort Worth that has plenty of student friendly housing is around University of North Texas (UNT) Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine (in Fort Worth - NOT Denton) or Texas Christian University in Fort Worth
